Roles & Responsibilities

Ensure, by various means of communication that vendors deliver materials in time to suit the construction schedule. Update and issue the overall material expediting status report.

The duties and responsibilities of the Expeditor shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Maintain regular contact with all vendors to check the progress on shop orders
• Ensure shop visits are made as required through-out the project and develop expediting visiting schedule showing all orders subject to shop expediting and frequency of shop visits
• Issue shop expediting reports after each visit, ensure that they are correct in detail and that delivery promises made are clearly shown plus ensure that any actions required are followed up immediately
• Report any slippage in deliveries or problems connected with any of his orders to his supervisor or Project Manager
• Produce detailed material status report showing current status of all open purchase orders and ensure it is updated as and when required for submission to projects and/or client
• Maintain files correctly and neatly in such a manner that they can be readily understood
• Liaison with inspection, logistics and construction in release of equipment for shipment and the safe transportation and receipt at site
• Resolve OS&D reports from the jobsite and provide input to vendor performance records
• Maintain and update the Material Management system in real time
