BASIC FUNCTION:


 

Responsible for the co-ordination of discipline work activities in a designated craft in a safe and expeditious manner.


 

Responsible for liaising with other crafts to minimise interface problems and ensuring discipline work is completed in an efficient manner within project constraints and requirements.


 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


 

1.   Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of HSE in accordance with the Project, Client and Company standards. Ensure the monitoring of Subcontractor activities is ongoing, and they are complying with the HSE requirements. Ensure that the monitoring of the Behavioural Safety Scheme is ongoing and being complied with.


 

2.   Organise supervisors to monitor, expedite and supervise where possible all subcontractor discipline craft activities.


 

3.   Assist the Field (Discipline) Engineer with the inspection and testing of all discipline work.


 

4.   Ensure that only trained and experienced operators are used on critical works.


 

5.   Advise the Construction Superintendent on potential claims and problems.


 

6.   Monitor level of subcontractor labour, plant and equipment and advise Construction Superintendent of associated problems.


 

7.   Co-ordinate all discipline craft activities and subcontractors to ensure no interface problems arise.


 

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:


 

Shall attempt to resolve all discipline installation problems by assisting and advising supervisors or referring the matter to the Construction Superintendent.


 

TECHNICAL AND ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:


 

Preferably qualified either in engineering or in a discipline craft or equivalent technical experience gained through practical experience gained in the appropriate discipline.


 

Eight or more years of progressive construction experience in the petrochemical or related industries.


 

SUPERVISORY SKILLS:


 

Able to direct Craft Supervisors and communicate with subcontractor personnel with the ability to get work completed.


 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS


 

Experience of coordinating large E and I contractors.


 

Experienced in specialist vendor co ordination and supervision.


 

Experienced in power generation plant and related electrical HV/LV distribution.
