POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position reports to the Project Manager within the project team and is responsible for all activities related to the project control functions that are required to meet contractual obligations and profit objectives. The duration would be at least 18 months with a start date in January 2009.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.   Provides effective leadership, development and training of project control personnel.

2.   Establishes a Project Control Team appropriate to the needs of the project.

3.   Participates in the preparation and presentation of proposals.

4.   Develops Client & company project control policies and procedures.

5.   Develops the basic scheduling and progress measurement concepts in conjunction with the lead Project Scheduler.

6.   Defines the document management requirements and initiates the document management system in conjunction with the Document Controller.

7.   Develops the material management plan and sets up the equipment and bulk material identification and control procedures in conjunction with the Material Controller.

8.   Establishes the project procedures to be used for monitoring, trending, reporting and predicting project costs. Responsible for the initial budget distribution and the planning and production of all subsequent project control and check estimates.

9.   Establishes an effective Change Control procedure.

10.  Responsible for the timely production of those sections of both company and Client Reports related to the project control functions. Attends progress, schedule and cost review meetings.

  1. Maintains effective and harmonious Client relations and ensures that the Project Control functions meet all contractual requirements.

 

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:

The PCM is expected to function within the broad framework of the company’s policies and procedures and as defined in the Management System.

The PCM is expected to function effectively within Project Teams and to respond to project requirements with minimum group direction and/or supervision. The PCM is expected to represent the company’s project control expertise to both the company Project Team and to the Client. The ability to communicate with and make effective presentations to the Client is essential.

The PCM is required to be flexible, innovative and adaptable in order to provide the most effective project control solutions. To achieve this, the PCM must have a comprehensive understanding of project control policies and procedures together with their supporting computer systems. The PCM should also endeavour to remain abreast of “best practices” within the industry and the development of new concepts or systems that could contribute to an improvement in the way the company performs the project control functions.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

·          Chartered Engineer, Engineering Degree or equivalent

·          High level of technical competence in Project Control and a high level of computer literacy

·          Logic, creativity and innovation skills

·          Overall management and operational experience with significant relevant progressive professional industry experience, the majority of this experience being in project management/control. A significant part of this experience should have been gained on jobsite (field) assignments

·          Experience of Liquefied Natural Gas Plants (LNG) from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC)

·          Potential experience with Modules
