Project Engineering Manager
Location Greenford, UK Duration Permanent Salary Negotiable BASIC FUNCTION:
Multidiscipline leader of all, or part of the engineering effort on assigned proposals and projects. Key member of the project team accountable to the proposal or project manager. Provides the necessary direction, definition and coordination to ensure technical quality and conformance with specifications, budgets and schedules. May act as project manager on smaller projects.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Prepares the engineering plan to be included as part of the proposal or project execution plan. Ensures that the project requirements are clearly communicated to the members of the project team.
2. Assembles the project design data and maintains the equipment list to ensure that client technical requirements are fully defined. Organises the engineering team effort to ensure efficient and cost effective execution consistent with the budget and schedule.
3. Plans the resources, staff and facilities, necessary for successful execution.
4. Provides technical direction to ensure the effective integration of the different engineering disciplines within the project team. Arranges multi-discipline technical review meetings.
5. Coordinates the engineering effort with procurement, construction, operating services and other offices to ensure a consistent approach.
6. Monitors the progress of engineering against the project plans and takes corrective action where necessary.
7. Acts as prime spokesman on engineering matters in all key project meetings.
8. Ensures the preparation of cost effective technical proposals responsive to client requirements; highlights any new or novel design features and recommends appropriate contingencies.
9. Ensures Engineering comply with Export Control Regulations and supports export licensing procedures for the project.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:
Leads the engineering effort for major projects and proposals involving a high degree of complexity and challenge.
Acts independently, directly accountable to the project manager, subject to only a few external controls.
Analyses and solves significant technical issues requiring input from different specialist disciplines.
Required to be able to work successfully when under pressure from time and cost constraints.
TECHNICAL AND ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
BSc. Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered Engineer
Fifteen or more years of progressive applicable experience with at least ten years experience of Engineering in the process or process manufacturing industries.
SUPERVISORY SKILLS:
Must have the ability to effectively co-ordinate the efforts of assigned personnel. Must demonstrate leadership skills, and be able to motivate assigned personnel.
Must maintain effective working relations with other key project team members and client engineers.
Responsible for guiding and developing the skills of project subordinates for the benefit of the Company and of the individuals.
Must be able to make clear presentations to client and Company management.
