ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Education B.Sc or B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng).
- Significant relevant experience of leading complex petrochemical projects.
- Thorough knowledge of power system design and analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment design parameters, operation and protection.
- Knowledge of gas and steam turbine generation systems, design parameters, operation, synchronization, active and reactive power sharing, load shedding, neutral earthing systems.
- Knowledge of Electrical Network Monitoring and Control Systems (ENMCS), design principles and operation.
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification principles and thorough familiarity with the selection of suitable certified equipment.
- Good supervisory skills
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Prior experience working in a site engineering support role.
- Familiar with implementation of Change Management.
- Familiar with principles of electrical equipment commissioning.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
1. Provide guidance and support to the construction teams to help deliver Quality site construction and implementation that satisfies the project requirements.
2. Encourage a no change and flawless start up mindset within site.
3. Provide guidance on the interpretation of Project Specifications and Shell DEPs.
4. Review discipline engineering documents to assure quality compliance with relevant Project Specifications and Shell DEPs.
5. Answer in a timely manner all discipline technical queries and deviations.
6. Review in a timely manner all discipline engineering deliverables.
7. Familiarise with established discipline key interfaces and help resolve all site issues relating to these interfaces.
8. Be an integral member of the site team for project reviews.
9. Participate in progress meetings to maintain an overview of progress, issues and actions pertaining to electrical engineering discipline.
10. Follow up to ensure closure of all discipline actions arising from any meetings.
11. Provide input and advice to Project Controls and Contract Management concerning matters relating to the management of change (work scope, cost and schedule).
12. Provide input and advice to Commissioning Team relating to electrical discipline activities.
13. As technical specialist, help develop and evaluate plans and criteria for various site activities. Asses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering ideas and evaluations, developing necessary data as required.
14. Be an effective team leader and team supervisor.
