Accountabilities: Reporting to the Senior Plant Manager, the successful candidate will become part of the senior management team at the Generating Station.  This 12 month opportunity will offer an exciting learning experience.

You will be accountable for the overall preparation of financial reports and budgets for the Generating Station as required by plant management.  Your responsibilities will include completing monthly financial reporting and analysis including accruals and adjustments for operating and capital; monthly variance analysis of operating and labour budgets; providing appropriate explanations of variances and quarterly reforecast operating.  Other accountabilities will include tracking balanced scorecard targets and plant key performance indicators, maintaining the cost control systems for tracking planned outage costs and inputting all non-inventory requisitions into Oracle.

You must have a good understanding of financial systems and controls and will be required to review and recommend changes as appropriate.  You will work with Capital Investment Champion in project cost analysis, financial tracking, accruals, forecasting and monthly financial reporting.

You will be responsible for personal safety, and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.  You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate will preferably have a Bachelor's degree in business or commerce or an equivalent combination of education and experience with the willingness to learn and develop in the Financial/Business Analyst role.  You must be detail oriented, possess strong analytical and organizational skills and demonstrate good communication skills.  You must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team focused environment.  You will have experience with Microsoft Excel and feel comfortable creating and analyzing detailed spreadsheets.  Previous experience with Oracle financials, PowerPlay and Impromptu would be a definite asset.
