Our clients Supply Chain Department has an immediate opening for a Senior Buyer who will be the key Client interface in the management of some of our strategic vendor relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality and Product Development Teams. This position will be located at our Burnaby facility. Responsibilities: - Manage a commodity base within the Supply Chain Group,
- Review and execute Purchase Orders per MRP demand and SCM guidelines,
- Drive initiatives and negotiate material pricing to levels that meet or exceed Platform goals,
- Ensure inventory of commodity base is driven to minimum levels while still fulfilling Manufacturing requirements,
- Execute miscellaneous Purchase Requisitions within the commodity base,
- Provide guidance with respect to both Supplier and commodity roadmaps,
- Ensure the Supply / Commodity base aligns with overall operational expectations,
- Take the lead role in identifying and selecting Suppliers that fit within the strategic roadmap,
- Participate in Supplier audits and manage supplier performance,
- Determine Suppliers capability/capacity, identify development requirements and drive solutions,
- Work in a team environment to optimize Supplier quality, on-time delivery, lead time and cost,
- Ensure Supplier and component ordering parameters are optimized and updated,
- Proactively communicate potential issues and interruptions in supply and
- Assist in the development of purchasing policies and procedures.
Qualifications: A degree in Engineering, Business or Commerce - Minimum of 5 years procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
- CPP, CSCP, CPIM or equivalent certification is preferred
- In-depth experience in a large-scale ERP system
- Commodity experience in one of the following areas: custom manufacturing equipment, electro-mechanical componetry, castings/metal fabrication, precious metals, or service contracts
- Proven history of Supply Chain successes
- Exceptional negotiating skills
- Ability to negotiate and draft key supply contracts
- Proven ability to control complex Supplier relationships
- Exposure in administering a global supply base
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment
- Ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions to difficult issues
- Ability to build commitment to ideas, plans, or courses of action
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and presentation skills timely, accurate and succinct delivery of information
- Strong time management skills ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong leadership experience required
