Development Engineer Power Systems
* Development and verification of simulation models for full scale grid connected power-converter control systems specifically for high power wind turbines, and the associated grid, to allow performance analysis (stability, resonance, harmonics, transient performance etc). * Development of advanced control systems for full scale grid connected converters. * Development, verification and maintenance of simulation models used in the design validation, support and maintenance of hardware and real time embedded software for the wind turbine frequency converters. 2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION * Reports to Team Leader Frequency Converter Development. * Working as team member with other members of UK team and wider engineering team. * Internal and external contacts at all levels. 3. SCOPE OF JOB * Capturing and documentation of detailed requirements and acceptance criteria. * Development of network and converter simulation models at appropriate lever/order. * Power System analysis (control system analysis, harmonic, transient, operating modes) * Stability analysis and definition of system design solutions for stable operation under all operating conditions. * Evaluation of potential technical solutions for converter control and impact/requirements power systems/electronic. * Development of design solutions. * Production of detailed implementation specification. * Validation of models in laboratory/wind turbines. * Other duties, as necessary to meet the business objectives. 4. DIMENSIONS AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY * Design of simulation models solutions and associated documentation to meet requirements, from clarification of requirements, concept through to verification, with review/approval of Team Leader. 5. QUALIFICATIONS Educated to degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with specialisation in Power Systems and Control Engineering. Vacancy Summary
